Please be prepared to provide the following:

EARLY CHECK OUT

Please try to schedule appointments after school hours. During school hours, students must be checked out through the office, with proper identification. Please do not call the office in advance to have your student dismissed, we will call when you arrive.

Students will only be released to their parents. If you as the parent would like your child released to anyone other than yourself, please provide the following information in writing to the MRES Office:

  • Student name
  • Pickup person's full name
  • Specific date
  • Time for pickup
  • Parent signature and date
**You may bring in a signed and dated note or email us from the email address we have on file for you with the above information, this CANNOT be done by phone the office MUST have it in writing **

TARDIES

All students arriving after 8:45 am must check in at the office for a late slip. Please call the attendance hotline if your student will not be at school before 9:30 am. If you call, please be prepared to provide the following:

  • Student first and last name - spell slowly
  • Grade
  • Teacher
  • Date(s) of the absence or tardy
  • Reason for the absence or tardy
  • Your name and phone number
  • Your relationship to the student

If tardy due to a doctor appointment, please request a doctor’s note and provide to the office at check-in.
Medical Notes: When your student misses any amount of school for a doctor/dentist appointment, it is beneficial to his/her attendance record to bring an official medical note to the attendance desk. Any all-day absence excused by a medical note does not count toward your student’s absence total.

Off Campus Independent Study (OCIS)

Poway Unified has partnered with Informed K12 to bring Off-Campus Independent Study Contracts (OCIS) online!

Why is Independent Study Important?

Students have a right to be provided with instructional materials when they miss school. This ensures that your student gets the vital practice and instruction they need to succeed academically.

Independent Study also helps students avoid being classified as Chronically Absent and helps our district maintain high Average Daily Attendance (ADA). ADA is linked to funding and therefore ties directly to our ability to provide the very best support to Poway teachers, families, and to our community.

The minimum for a contract is 1 day; the maximum is 15 days per school year.

 OCIS What to Expect
